History (2017)

History (2017) was performed as part of the PWr Exhibition alongside work by seven other artists. The artist writes about the industrial revolution's success being funded by the British Empire. The work highlights the British Education system's failure to educate generations of Britons on the historical truths of their own country. The piece requires the audience to access the artwork online to fully engage and understand it. Their proactivity (or not) in uncovering the message reflects the real life research into the subject matter. There is beauty in the transference of the charcoal on to the feet of passers by which carry the artwork with them on their individual journeys.
