Marriage (2017) was performed on the artist's 20th Birthday in tribute to the artist's mother who was married at 19 years old. The artist's mother has performed her role as a daughter-in-law, wife and mother in an Indian household alongside graduating university and working a full time job in the law industry.
Cloaked in red chillies the artist walks in circles while crushing the chillies in her hands and pulling them off her person. Between the chillies are extracts of a letter written by the artist to her mother about things that she felt she could never say in person due to cultural barriers. The performance resembles tradition alongside modernism and commitment alongside resistance to culture. The use of chillies represent the aesthetic of an Indian bride while causing physical pain to the artist throughout the performance.
